This is the first draft of our music video for the song Monster by Imagine Dragons.

Behind The Scenes- Day 5

This is the BTS footage for day five of filming our music video. These were the additional bathroom scenes which we shot at a friend's house.

We managed to finish filming these scenes and obtained a lot of different shots at different angles. The scenes were also fairly dramatic and so contributing to the narrative and emotive side of the music video. The lighting was also very good in contrast to the last time we filmed the bathroom scenes.

Behind The Scenes- Day 3 & 4

This is the BTS footage for day three and four of filming our music video. These were the flashback and street scenes which we shot at bow road station and watney market.

Filming here was extremely successful in many ways. We managed to establish a more vivid and intimate relationship between the protagonist and his love interest through filming flashback scenes which showcase their connection. Additionally, we were able to film at the station without inhibiting any of the pedestrians from progressing as they normally would. Watney market being highly populated and busy actually helped us as we managed to use this to our advantage. This was through presenting the contrast between the protagonist and everyone else through making him seem stuck in time. Overall, the amount of camera shots and different angles was really good.

What didn't go so well was timing, in that it got dark very quickly and so we were unable to shoot the graveyard scenes. We then improvised and shot scenes that would play out as a flashback and make the relationship between the two actors more clear, and so the day was not wasted. The challenge with watney market was dealing with the amount of people. The positive was that it aided us in filming one particular scene, however, the negative was we attracted a lot of attention, making it difficult to film and adding extra pressure eon the actors.

Behind The Scenes- Day 2

This is the BTS footage for day two of filming our music video. These were the band performance scenes which we shot at the drama pod.

We took shots of each band member at different angles and managed to obtain a decent amount of differentiated shots. However, we had less than an hour to film the footage and so ran out of time, having to re-shoot the footage on another day. The performance also needs to be a little more lively.

Behind The Scenes- Day 1

Here are the BTS footage for day one of filming our music video. These were the bedroom and bathroom scenes which we shot at a friends house.

We managed to obtain quite a lot of footage with the acting and camera work being on point. Problems that we encountered, however, involved lighting issues which resulted in lines appearing on the footage and also the lack of time, meaning we would have to film on another day as these scenes are essential to our music video.

Sid - Enamel (Music Video Reference)

In this post, I will be discussing some music videos we will take reference and inspiration from.

The second reference is a Visual Kei Japanese Rock Band “SID” and their song is entitled “Enamel”. Enamel is featured in an anime programme “Kuroshitsuji Book of Circus”. It is the third season of Kuroshitsuji in which continues the journey of revenge of the main character, Ciel Phantomhive and his demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis.

The music video is dominantly performance with a hint of concept. Their concept shows an apple and is the little snippets of a rotten apple shows a foreshadowing. This relates to the anime programme Kuroshitsuji Book of Circus as it perhaps shows the consequences of pursuing revenge. It also relates to our intertextual reference to Dorian Gray.

This is the opening of the music video which shows an apple surrounded by wires which connotes confinement, relating to the transformation of out main artist on our music video Monster.

Foreshadowing

The chains connotes again confinement which relates to the lyrics of our chosen song "I'm only a man with a chamber who's got me..."

Breakerz - Rusty Hearts (Music Video Reference)

In this post, I will be discussing some music videos we will take reference and inspiration from.

The first one is a Visual Kei Japanese Rock Band “Breakerz” and their song is titled as “Rusty Hearts”. Rusty Hearts is based on a free-to-play MMORPG video game developed by Stairway Games and published by Windysoft in Korea, Perfect World Entertainment in North America, Sega in Japan and Xunlei Games in China.

The storyline is about the Bartbarod in which the Royal family maintained a pure bloodline until a genetic mutation nearly wiped them out and gave rise to a new race of mutants called vampires. They in turn gave rise to new race of half-breeds, causing the pure-blooded vampires to grow wary. The ruler of the Vampires at this time, Lord Vlad, decided that he would eliminate the impurities that threatened the existence of his people and declared war against humans and half-breeds alike.

Two Shot Of The Actress And Singer

The lighting shows pureness and innocence which contrasts with the next photo in which they used special effects to shows her transformation.

In these two photos, the artist shows his regret for transforming his beloved.

We will incorporate the theme of this music video to our own project. We will also use the same kind of lighting using ambient and low key lighting to show the contrast between innocence and the aftermath of the transformation.
